Julian Assange has said he believes there was a deliberate attempt to ignore negative stories about Hillary Clinton during the presidential election campaign.
Speaking to Fox News’ Sean Hannity, the 45-year-old said the media in the US was dishonest and had colluded with the Clinton campaign.
Hannity asked: “Knowing what WikiLeaks revealed about the Podesta emails, on Clinton corruption, on Bernie Sanders being cheated – all of this was revealed and not a lot of it was covered.
“So what does that say to the American people about media coverage in America? Dishonest?”
Mr Assange replied: “It is very dishonest. Corrupt is interesting it depends on your definition. If you look at what we published…”
Hannity interjected and asked again: “If they are colluding with Hillary that’s not corrupt?”
“It is an ethical corruption,” Mr Assange said before going on to accept the media colluded with Mrs Clinton and her campaign.
He refused to say whether this collusion was due to the media sharing her political agenda.
“Why else would they collude?” Hannity asked. “Or they hate Donald Trump?”
During his campaign, President-elect Trump repeatedly accused multiple media outlets of being biased against him.
He repeatedly referred to the New York Times as “the failing New York Times” and clashed with multiple TV news anchors.
During his wide-ranging interview with Fox News, Mr Assange denied Russia had been involved in the cyberattacks on the Democratic Party and Mrs Clinton.
He also said attempts to suggest Vladimir Putin had instigated the DNC email leaks were an attempt to “delegitimise” Mr Trump.
“We can say, we have said, repeatedly that over the last two months that our source is not the Russian government and it is not a state party,” Mr Assange said.
“They [the Obama administration] are trying to delegitimise the Trump administration as it goes into the White House.
“They are trying to say that President-elect Trump is not a legitimate president.”
