Another day, another terror attack in France. A man has been shot dead at Paris Orly airport after trying to snatch a soldier’s gun.
Shortly before the airport shooting, a police officer was shot in a separate incident during a traffic stop in Garges-les-Gonesse, a northern Paris suburb.
Reports in the French capital suggest the man who opened fire at police was the same man who was killed at the airport an hour later.
Today’s incident comes as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visit Paris, where they will later meet victims of terrorism.
Anti-terror police are searching the airport for possible accomplices and explosives, and authorities have warned the public to stay away. All air traffic has been suspended.
Whether this incident turns out to be Islamist terrorism or not, it is another hammer blow to France’s rapidly fading tourist industry.
