A DAD was shocked when he received a nursery report for his three-year-old son – naming him as “Mohammad Harry Islam”.
David Moore received the letter from the nursery which is attached to a school where just five per cent of pupils are English.
David, a bingo caller, received the progress report on Monday which shows the name “Mohammad Harry Islam” under a photo of his blonde-haired son.
When he pointed out the error to Salisbury Primary in Wednesbury, West Mids., staff claimed it was a “typo.”
David, who lives with partner Melissa in Darlaston, said: “There are only 15 students in his class, so you’d have thought they would be able to remember his name.
“I can see the funny side, but what worries me is the ‘Islam’ part – are they noting down pupils religions next to their names?
“We’re not religious at all, so I really don’t appreciate that.
“I have no idea if it’s someone’s idea of a joke or if there is another lad called Harry who is Muslim and that’s how the teachers tell them apart.”
David showed the report to Harry’s nursery teacher Mrs Diaz but was told the error came about because there is another boy in the class with the same name.
The dad-of-two added: “Mrs Diaz just said it must be a typo. But that’s not what a typo looks like – they’ve put the wrong name in and who on earth is called Harry Islam?
“Then they said there’s another boy with that name, and they’ve got it mixed up. Well Mrs Diaz only teaches 15 students, and none of them have that name.
“I think they might get mixed up, because only five per cent of the school are English – 80 per cent of the school are Asian and the rest are Polish.
“But they haven’t even apologised. They’ve just told us there’s nothing we can do about it, and keep asking for the report back so they can shred it.
“All we want is an apology and an explanation, because what they’ve told us so far doesn’t add up.
“We want to meet with the headteacher, Mrs Bland, because it worries me what they’re saying about pupils that we don’t know.”
