Donald Trump has called for the US to follow Britain’s lead in “taking back control” of its borders and economy after the UK voted to ditch the EU.
Trump also used his argument against globalisation to brant Hillary Clinton as the champion of policies that have pushed American jobs overseas.
He said: “Our friends in Britain recently voted to take back control of their economy and borders.
“Now it’s time for the American people to take back their future.”
Trump said he was “on the right side” of Brexit after previously calling on Britain to leave the bloc.
Speaking from a steel factory in Pennsylvania, Trump said: “Globalisation has made the financial elite very very wealthy,” including Mrs Clinton who is among its members.
“Our politicians watched from the sidelines as jobs vanished and communities plunged into unemployment.”
The Presidential hopeful said “the era of economic dependence will finally be over” if he makes it to the White House.
