Christians in Venice are in shock after an attack by a young Muslim on one of the most important and most revered crucifixes in the city.
A young man of North African origin likely entered the church of St. Jeremiah and badly damaged the religious artifact. He was stopped by the caretaker and several worshippers.
“It’s wrong. It’s all wrong,” the young Muslims kept screaming as he created havoc in the church in Cannaregio, Venice. The church is also famous for housing the relics of Saint Lucia.
The man had been reported outside the church a little ‘revved up: Then, entering the place of worship, began to freak out. In a video spread online, the guardian tells what happened, shocked: “He tried to jump on the main altar of the church. He said that ‘something was wrong’”.
