Although the 1st July has now passed, commemorations are still going on for the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme.
Today was the turn of the Welsh Regiments and the descendants of those who fell in, or survived, the Battle of Mametz Wood. The second video below gives a reminder of the tragedy that struck almost every town and village in Wales just a week after the mourning blinds came down in every little street in loyalist Belfast.
While the losses of Wales are commemorated by a magnificent Ddraig Goch, the Golgotha of the 36th Ulster Division on the first day of the Battle of the Somme is remembered at the Ulster Tower. Our first video shows the fine parade held there last weekend as thousands of Ulstermen and women came to pay their respects.
