“Pancake Day” – more properly Shrove Tuesday – is a Christian celebration with well over a thousand years of history behind it. It is the day before Ash Wednesday, which is of course the start of Lent, the forty days of fasting leading up to Easter.
Now encased in a light (compared with Christmas and Easter!) batter of commercialism, the day remains a valuable reminder of our great Christian heritage. This excellent little video explains it all….
